Times : Hyderabad IT Investment Region (ITIR) is all set to become a reality with high-powered committee headed by the Union cabinet secretary finally giving in-principal approval to the mega project.
Straddling 202 sq kms or 50,000 acres (nearly five times the 10,000-acre ITIR projects cleared for Karnataka and Orissa),the Hyderabad ITIR is slated to catapult the city into Indias largest knowledge hub in the coming years and could well be the biggest booster kick that a T-struck Hyderabad has been desperately waiting for. The ITIR will primarily comprise areas falling under Cyberabad Develoment Authority including Gachibowli and Madhapur,Hyderabad Airport Development Authority areas including Mamidipalli,Raviryal,Adibatla and Maheshwaram.

Hindu: The State expects the ITIR region to fetch revenues of Rs 3.10 lakh crore.
HYDERABAD, SEPT. 20:
After a wait of almost two years, Andhra Pradesh has got the Centre’s nod for the ITIR (Information Technology Investment Region), which is expected to give the State Capital a start to the second wave of IT development.
It was in 2008 that the Centre had mooted the idea of ITIR that called for development of self-contained, integrated knowledge clusters to foster information technology, IT-enabled services and electronic hardware industry.
While the present IT hub is heavily concentrated in the South-West of the city (Madhapur and Gachibowli), the ITIR in Andhra Pradesh would focus on the hitherto untouched Eastern part, mainly Uppal and Mamidpipalli, Raviryal, Adibatla, Pocharam and Maheswaram.
The State Government expects the ITIR region to fetch revenues of Rs 3.10-lakh crore once it is fully developed within 25 years; the total investment would be Rs 2.19 lakh crore. The investments would go into development infrastructure for office space and residential areas, apart from other support systems.
The IT exports from the State, which presently stand at about Rs 50,000 crore, would cross the Rs 2.35-lakh crore-mark. “It would generate 15 lakh direct and 53 lakh indirect jobs. The State would get revenues of Rs 30,170 crore,” State IT and Communications Minister, Ponnala Lakshmaiah, has said.
Speaking to reporters , the Minister said the area would roughly cover 50,000 acres. It would have special economic zones, industrial parks, free trade zones, export-oriented units and warehousing zones.
